The holidays are an amazing time of year that allows us to take some time to enjoy all that is good in our lives and spend that time with friends and family.  The San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology will be closing for the holidays between December 24, 2011 until January 2, 2012.  Please have a safe and happy holidays from the SFIEC family to yours.

* Wednesday, December 21, 2011: Boys and Girls Club Beauty Lounge. Boys and girls will be coming in for glitter tattoos, makeup applications, haircuts and manicures from 12pm – 5pm.  We couldn’t think of a more rewarding way to spend our time than making each boy and girl feel special and beautiful.

Future Professionals: A sign-up sheet was passed around, so if you’re interested and couldn’t or didn’t sign it, get in touch with Stephanie or Ruby. You’ll need to fill out an Elective Request Form and volunteers will be selected on the basis of attendance percentages.

* Saturday, December 10, 2011: Casual for a Cause: Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco. Our own Ruby Foster is spearing December’s cause, working with this amAYZING organization (click here for more info). As their colors are blue and white, so will be your colors for this Casual for a Cause. $5 will enable you to wear blue (blue denim too!) to school on December 10th.

Developing a deeper understanding of skin function and the effective treatment of common skin conditions leads to continued success as a skin care professional. This one-day seminar will give you a solid understanding of skin biology and the safe and effective application of superficial chemical peels. It will keep you on the cutting edge of skin care science and help your practice reach its full potential.

The skin biology & chemical peel seminar is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

peel fundamentals: a hands-on course
This hands-on seminar is designed to give you the tools necessary to select the most appropriate PCA SKIN professional treatment for your patients’ distinct skin concerns. You will maximize your treatment outcomes by learning the art of customizing with your choice of peels and serums. During this 5.5 hour course we will review the benefits, indications and application technique of each PCA SKIN professional treatment. Following this review, each attendee will have the opportunity to perform four of the professional treatment protocols discussed.
In order for everyone to be able to perform a total of four treatments, you will be required to bring a model and be willing and able to receive a treatment during class. Please refer to the preparation for a peel treatment sheet included with your registration materials, so that your skin is properly prepared for a treatment. Please ensure your model arrives to the class promptly at 12:15pm.

Space is limited to 12 attendees per class. The peel fundamentals: a hands-on course is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

State Board Prep for Students Licensed Outside CA

Due to high demand, SFIEC is providing a class to students licensed, in the beauty industry, outside the state of California to take this 3 hour course to prepare for the CA state board.

On Monday, December 5th, Jeanne will be teaching a state board prep class for Cosmetology to help people who were schooled or licensed in other states.

The cost will be $150 for a 3 hour class explaining the scope of the practical exam with some demonstration.

Credit cards will be accepted on the day of the class.

SOMA: PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE

of SOMA businesses.

the broader SOMA community at The Old Mint Building, once a repository for one-third
of the nation’s wealth. The “Old Mint” or “Granite Lady” embodies the resilient spirit

to the film screening there will be several staggered 25-minute guided Mint tours
